Cure for the Buzzzz! Jul 06, 2010
Mine buzzes bad but only at ear level. If you mount it so that the bottom of the panel is at or above ear level, you will hear no buzz from your viewing location. I didn't even notice the buzz for 2 months until I stood just right.
The picture quality is phenomenal. What else can I say?

Great picture quality at an affordable price. Lots of Bang for your Buck. Full features, good looking housing and a touch of Class. One caution, this set runs very warm to hot. Make sure you have enough airflow to keep it cool. Otherwise, it's the BEST. Bought from Amazon at a discounted price, plus shipping & set-up is FREE.

Samsung PN58B650 58-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV
Got it from Amazon. I am so proud of myself ! Fantastic purchase. I see that the price has gone up to 19xx now, and the item is shipping from OneCall. I paid less with free shipping direct from Amazon.
The delivery was flawless by Pilot freight servce. The TV was unwrapped, plugged in and basic test was completed.
I was very anxious through out the research/decision/order/delivery process about the Samsung buzzing problem that I have read so much about. I was more stressed than excited about this TV when it arrived. But I put my faith in Amazon, their great service and return policies, and went ahead with Samsung (over Panasonic V10).
Now, I am thrilled to announce that there is absolutely no buzzing at all ! Infact my TV is so quiet that the harddisk in my Laptop sounds like it is screaming ! Picture quality is to die for ! I am very very happy with the purchase and the product.
I want to send a warm hug to all the reviewers here for sharing their experiences and helping me decide.

I bought this TV to replace my 5 year old Phillips 42" 1080i Plasma.
The picture quality of this TV is very nice right out of the box. Very little adjustment needs to be done to have fantastic picture quality.
I notice much more vibrant colors and darker darks and whiter whites compared to my previous TV.
My TV came with Firmware 1017.
I am using Cinema Smooth and I do not notice the darks lightening up that much with cinema smooth on. There is a slight increase but if I didn't know to look for it I would never notice it was occurring with CS turned on.
I do notice a faint buzzing sound on bright screens when set to "Dynamic Mode". I can only hear it with the volume off or set very low but I do notice it.
The buzz really isn't noticeable in other picture settings.
I am at sea level so elevation is not the reason but I do have the TV next to the wall. I installed both ferrite cores on both ends of the power cord and do not notice a difference with or without them in regards to buzzing.
DLNA function is very handy. I am currently using it to play my break in images and have used it to display family pictures as well.
I thought the shipping via Pilot was a bit slow to be honest. Over a week to receive the TV. Saying this they did call the day of delivery and let me know they would arrive in 15-20mins, which they did. They also brought the TV in powered it up and made sure it functioned. Quality of delivery was good just slower than expected.
I am currently breaking in the TV with some burn-in images and will update the review after I get some hours in and I have tweaked my TV settings.
Update
I have been watching the TV for a while now and am still very happy with the picture quality.
The buzz is still there so it doesn't disipate with over time it seems.
The widgets are rather slow to load if you are using them. I have used them to watch a movie and shopping for the movie was a pain due to the slow loading times. However there are no problems once the video is selected running.
One odd thing I have to mention is the screen saver for this TV seems to do more harm then good. The screen saver "Samsung symbol" is so vibrant and stays in one location long enough that the samsung symbol is left on the TV screen. My blu ray player's screen saver does NOT have this problem. My blu ray's screen saver is much dimmer and shifts location much sooner.
Overall still very happy with the TV. It works well for what I intended (cable TV and Blu Rays) however the widgets are too slow for me to get into them and will likely avoid them.
