5great TV  May 05, 2010
We have been really happy with the TV. Picture quality is great and we really enjoy using it.

1I'll never buy another LG ANYTHING. One start is too many.  Apr 06, 2010
I purchased this TV in August 2009. The picture never looked perfect, but it was my first HDTV and I wasn't sure what it should look like. Steadily, the picture degraded. Now, the picture is absolutely terrible. To compare the picture, change the input to Antenna, except don't actually connect an antenna.

So I called the company to service the TV on December 18, 2009. They got someone there "between 8a and 5p" in mid January. The tech said he had to order a part because it was the company's protocol, but he KNEW it wouldn't work. But "his hands were tied". So we waited 3 weeks for the part to come in. Two more weeks after the part arrived for the tech to come back, again "between 8a and 5p". Sure enough, he was right. The part didn't work. He could now order the part he actually thought would fix the TV.

That was March 3. The part is "on backorder" and we are told we need to wait another 30 days and then "they can see what they can do" about replacing this lemon.

So what have I learned:
- LG products are unreliable
- LG does not stand behind their products
- LG TV's break down enough where the part required to fix it is backordered for at least 2 months.

I would never take a chance and buy anything LG based on the horrible "service" they've provided. I recognize that things don't always work correctly and there are errors, but companies differentiate themselves by how they react. In this case, LG is right up there with Toyota in the denial of the issue.

4Good HDTV to have  Apr 02, 2010
When I bought this secondhand HDTV from Amazon wearhouse, I was kind of worried that maybe it will turn out to be the same bad experience like the one I went through with [...]. So I bought a guartantee from Safeguard

When it arrived finally, as scheduled, I started loving this TV, good quality in terms of both picture and sound, and I start to plug in my cable, my Blue-ray disc play, my computer and my USB flash drive.

Both TV and Blue-ray works perfectly, one tiny thing I'd like to mention is that the TV seems not to work quite well with Laptop, the quality is not quite good, though it works smoothly. the photos I saved in my USB disc, when i tried to display it on my TV, the quality is just very usual, not very good.

Good luck

4Great Plasma for its price  Feb 28, 2010
I recently made a cross country move from Ca to NY and didn't want to pack and ship my 2 Pioneer Kuros so i decided to just buy new TV when I got into town. I was about to spend another 4-6000 but after seeing this TV at a friends house I just couldn't do it anymore. I will admit there is a picture quality difference between my top of the line Pioneers and this entry level LG but for 80% of the consumers I doubt that they will notice a difference. The difference isn't in clarity its more in regards to color tone, and adjustability. One quick note I don't have this TV hooked up to a sat or cable signal so I'm reviewing it based solely on my experience with the TV with a Sony Blu Ray player and PS3 connected by HDMI. If you have a PS3 with a netflix account I would forgo the upgrade to the PS80 because its the same TV and all the functions that you would gain from that are available through the PS3. Also the fear of burn in is almost irrelevant anymore, my 9 yr old nephew was staying over for a few days and I asked him to turn the TV off as we were on the way out. He thought he was going to lose his place in the game so he paused it with the screen on. We got back 2 hours later and when I turned everything off (after showing him the save function) and on again there were noticeable signs of burn in but went away after he watched a ratatouille later.

Pro's;
-Great picture quality, no muddled picture here
-Easy menu navigation
-Great sound for what it is
-4 x HDMI connections
-Legacy connections if you have any older components you want to keep for some reason
-Easy to set up, it took me 10 min
-Pre set color modes
-Flat front glass, no step down from the bezel to the screen it cleans up the aesthetics

Con's;
-My number one gripe is that the blacks aren't as black as for example the Samsung 550. Its more like a dark dark dark gray and is kind of annoying to look at when you watching blu rays.
-Speakers, their good but go spend $300-500 for a simple 7.1 system
-Menu might be too simple for users that want more adjustments
-Remote, I bought a Logitech Universal remote after I dropped my remote the first day I got the tv and it stopped working.
-Preset color modes, I put them under pro's too but I wasn't a big fan of them use the adjustment program and tweak the colors yourself to get the best picture it takes 5 min and makes a huge difference.

Summary;

Great Plasma looking for the sub $1000 category if your looking for a 1080P plasma with great connection options and picture quality you can't go wrong with this unit. Find it online for $950-1200, many retailers were also offering free shipping so just do a little research for the best deal.

3great picture when the telvision stayed on  Feb 19, 2010
Good television when it worked. Second day after setup, the set kept turning itself off after two to five minutes. I returned to HHGregg. They didn't belive me, so they set it up and tried it in the store. I had videoed the defect on my cancorder. As I went to get my video from the car, the set cut off. They expected me to accept a replacement. I don't think so. I'll look elsewhere.
