Usually ships in 1 business days | | | | | | Garmin continues to build up its nüvi 7xx series portableGPS navigators with its nüvi 755T, which adds a number of handy routing and communication features to an already impressive list of specs, including a 4.3-inch widescreen display, text-to-speech capabilities, media player, and FM transmitter for transmitting audio--including directions and MP3 music and audiobooks--from the device to your car radio.New to the nüvi 7x5 lineup is Garmin's HotFix satellite prediction (which locates your position quickly and precisely), Lane Assist (which provides lane guidance and junction views when possible), automatic time zone transitioning, and 3D Building views as well as Garmin Connect Photos to help you visually ascertain your position. Additionally, the nüvi 755T includes free real-time traffic updates from Navteq (for the life of the device) via the included GTM 20 traffic receiver. The bright, 4.3-inch touchscreen display gives is anti-glare for ease of viewing during the day and automatically changes its color profile for easy viewing at night or in dim light. It offers 2d or 3D perspective views. The widescreen format gives you 70 percent more actual screen area than a 3.5-inch screen. Primarily this translates into a better view of the area through which you are driving. This is especially useful in showing you what parks, restaurants, ATM, gas stations, etc. are nearby, or in letting you know whether a detour is a good idea. Also, the device itself is larger, meaning controls on the screen are more widely spaced and somewhat easier to push. | | | |

Power supply / power failures Jul 31, 2010 I have used the Garmin 755T sparingly over the last year and a half. It has numerous problems with failing to retain power. Yes, it is plugged in the vehicle and plugged in via usb port to my computer. The unit dies quickly with battery power and with automotive power. Other times it will not recharge. All connections are firm. My brother has the same unit I bought for him a couple weeks after my purchase. He drives around to construction sites. It also dies, but it appears to be the result of heat in the vehicle. The interior is hot for an hour in the sun, then cooled when he returns with the A/C on. But it fails to work for a half to one day later. I would not recommend this poor quality GPS.
Never owned a GPS before- Jul 30, 2010 I purchased this item for a recent road trip to the Pacific Northwest, San Francisco to Seattle. I did quite a bit of research and found this GPS got wonderful reviews all around.
The Good: worked pretty great on the trip, decent recalculation times and POI's (although it did fail to find a large strip mall close to my home that was built 3-4 years ago, so I'm not sure how recently the maps in this software have been updated). At first I thought that the calculation times were really slow, but it definitely helps if you use the "Near" button at the bottom of the screen to narrow your searches. Using this feature is highly recommended. One feature I definitely appreciated was that one confusing highways, the view switches to snapshot of the highway signs and lanes to better direct you where to go. This only happened twice on the trip, but the switches were well timed and very helpful.
The Bad: There are more than a few places not included in the pre-programmed POI's. Sometimes searches take 3 or more minutes (which doesn't sound like a lot- until you're in a hurry.
The Ugly: I hate the keyboard! The buttons are hard to press and it feels like it takes forever, especially for place names longer than 12 or so letters. Often I press a letter and a completely different letter appears on the screen, necessitating use of the erase button, which is inconveniently placed and hard to press, even though my fingers are small even for a woman's.
Overall, I am satisfied with this product, although if I could go back and choose again, I might make a different choice.
Gets me to the church on time Jul 29, 2010 This product works pretty good. The driving directions are clear and fairly accurate. The directions of use and how to use the features are poor. I like the display showing time of arrival and speed limits, speed signs are a little sparse in this area, but cops and their tickets are not. I have noticed a lag in responce time. Several times it will tell me I have 500 ft before the turn when in reality I'm right at the turn. It seems to be a few seconds behind me, with my driving style a few seconds behind can be too late. If you drive more reasonably there should be no problem. I am a little disappointed with the lack of additional voices and images that are available for Garmin users looks like the others have snatched up most of the voice-overs.
One thing I wish Garmin would do is let you edit the maps. I drive out to Reservations where the maps do not cover, I would like to program in the roads so I can find my way out or back in again. I know another GPS provider allows you to edit.
Great value for GPS Jul 28, 2010 As a first time GPS user, I was looking for a GPS that would give me the basics but also have some amenities to it as well and this GPS has done just that. I was intrigued by the traffic and the multi-point destinations specifically as it set itself apart from other similarly priced units that had what I wanted.
The traffic feature, when available, is nice and has helped navigate to destinations. It has been reliable as far as how long and where a backup will be. However, I wish that the traffic feature was available in a broader area. Advertisements on GPS are very small and a non-issue.
The multi-point destination, which I was looking foward to, is great to have. Having the speed limit available while driving has also been very useful.
When forced to take an alternate route because of a downed tree, the GPS recalculated very quickly and put me on a differrent route.
The volume and voice is loud and clear from the unit.
In my opinion, this GPS is well worth the price listed on Amazon.
Gamin nuvi 755T Jul 26, 2010 Upgraded from older Garmin GPS.
The 755T works great, love the traffic information and ease of use.
