SX10IS...nice Jul 05, 2010 This camera takes nice photos...but I don't think any better than my small sony or Kodak camera. It is a little bit of a hassel to have to lift the flash but once you get used to the camera you pretty much remember to do that on your own before you try to take a photo. I mostly wanted this camera for the feature where I can take a still shot while taking a video...but then the video has a stop in the middle of it where I snapped the still shot. This was not exactly what I was hoping for.

Great camera at great price Jun 11, 2010 I researched many camera before purchasing this one. i have owned it for a year now and love everything about it. It is a great camera for taking pictures especially when a 3 year in involved. I don't always have time to change lens on a dslr, but this camera fixes that problem. The video is equal to full screen dvd quality as long as you do not use the digital zoom. This camera was great on vacation, one camera did it all. Took pictures and video while hiking through the Disney parks, it was nice to only carry one piece of equipment. I did purchase the Lensmate filter adapter, which was about $20 and worth every penny. That was one complaint I had about the camera, now I have none. It is also a nice camera to hand to someone who is not camera savvy and set on auto and tell them to point and shoot. My cousin of 10 years old took the camera during a car show and got great shots. I am sure I will get a DSLR someday, but not sure I want to part with all the dollars to get one. This is a great camera for the dollar. I am actually looking at upgrading to the Powershot SX20 for HD video. The Manual controls are not the friendliest but with tripod they are doable. Would also suggest the Rezo 110Aw bag, it handles the camera nicely.

Love, Love, Love this camera May 25, 2010 This is a sweet little camera. So many excellent features for a small, priced right camera. I bought it for a vacation trip since I didn't want to lug my heavier, complicated Nikon D80. I wanted a simple no brain point and shoot. The SX10IS is everything and more. I took well over 2500 images with good results and really no problems. From the plane looking down into the Rocky Mtns, to a moving Amtrak train, to a sailing ship, 99% of images were usable with the exception of a few operator errors...read.... I need a head for that body.... I was able to take photo still shots while filming and so much more, I was able to slowly zoom in while filming. Did I mention the Macro and super Macro yet?? The camera is very easy to operate, I didn't really need to read the manual, just kept figuring it out through the controls no complications there. Are the photos as clear as the Nikons? Possibly not, but the price difference is large and the fact that one lense will do just about everything far outweigh those factors. The biggest problem is learning the software program for the computer, which I think I may have to uninstall and reload, other than that I absolutely love this camera and I think it will remain a Canon classic for years to come.

Wonderful Camera May 06, 2010 This is a great camera! Once you spend a bit of time with the manual, it is quite easy to use. I was rather hesitant to buy this camera because of the bad reviews I read, but I am so glad I decided to get it anyway. The 20x zoom is amazing, and the macro ability is equally impressive. It takes clear, focused close-ups, even if the subject is touching the lens! Another great feature of this camera is the amount of control it allows you to have over the settings. It is very helpful to be able to adjust the white balance, shutter speed, and aperture while shooting. It also has many, many other settings that allow you to have full control over your images. Although I haven't used the video feature much, it seems alright. Of course it's videos aren't as good as those of a proper camcorder, but it still takes clear enough videos to record some good memories.
Overall, this is a fantastic camera! As far as cons go, there isn't a lot. The only thing I can think of, is the time you must spend with the manual. I'd say it takes a good couple of hours with the manual to get an idea of how to use the features. Even after you've studied the manual for a while, keep it around for future reference. I don't like reading manuals myself, but the amazing photos this camera can take, really make the two hours worthwhile. I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a high performance camera, without spending lots of money on a DSLR.

Great Camera Apr 27, 2010 I have used SLR's to subcompacts and this is the best compromise of features and convenience I have experienced. I was frustrated that the little pocket digitals would take out of focus pictures so frequently, and the larger SLR's were just not convenient for many circumstances. With this camera, you can have confidence that you will not miss the shot. The Image Stabilizer works great on the long zoom shots, and the auto focus keeps the pictures sharp. The built in 20x zoom gets you in close if needed, without having to lug that lens bag around. The swivel LCD monitor is great, I have held the camera over my head in crowds a bunch, and gotten good shots while everyone peering through their SLR viewfinder, or squinting at the tiny screen painted on the back of their subcompacts were missing the action. If you want to customize your shot, there are a slew of options you can access. Can't explain the few negative reviews, other than read the manual and pay attention to the settings. Great Camera.
